Why is EHR software so bad? Every time I interact with EHR systems during my rotations, I'm baffled by how clunky and unintuitive they are. It feels like these systems were designed in the 90s and never updated. EHRs seem to make our jobs harder instead of easier, taking away from patient care as we wrestle with outdated software. The interoperability issues are the worst, it's 2024, and we’re still faxing documents because different systems can't communicate seamlessly. Is it the vendors, the hospitals, or the regulations causing this mess? I'd love to hear insights or horror stories from those who've dealt with this longer. Maybe even some success stories if they exist!
